There was a good turnout and fun was had by all at the 2009 fishing derby.

Children and adults were treated to a warm, sunny summer day for the 2009 Lake Wentworth Fishing Derby. Awards will be given out at the LWA meeting on Saturday, August 8th at Kingswood High School. Some photos are included at the bottom of the page.

Here are the results for the age groups: In the 17 and older age group Kristen Smith and Brian Ouhrabka were tied for the largest sunfish of 1 ounce. In the 13-16 age group Robert Jacob Mitchals won for the largest large mouth bass weighing in at 1 pound, 11 ounces. Brooke Mitchals won for the largest small mouth bass weighing 1 pound, 10 ounces and Jasper Jones with a 1 pound, 1 ounce white perch in the 10-12 age group. Also in that age group Mary Kretchmer and her friend Sarah Van De Valk tied for the largest sunfish weighing 1/2 ounce. In the 8-9 year old group Michael Langlois won for the largest sunfish weighing 1/2 ounce and Monty Jones with the largest catfish and largest small mouth bass weighing 1 pound, 6 ounces. Greg Mitchals in the 5-7 age group weighed in his rainbow trout at 1 pound, 14 ounces winning the tournament with the largest fish. Greg also pulled in the largest large mouth bass of 1 pound, 13 ounces, largest Crappie of 1 1/2 ounces, and largest white perch of 7 ounces. For the under 5 age group Olivia Ouhrabka won with her sunfish weighing 1/2 ounce. Congratulations to all the participants!

Special thanks go to Ralph Cadman, Kristen Smith, and Hugh Crawford for their help at the tournament; also to Mill Street Meat Market for their donation.
