I started out on the Lake to go fishing on Sunday AM and I saw 2 heads poking out of the water, just off Townsend Shore, and they sure looked like otters. Light brown in color with whiskers around their snouts. Too big to be weasels or minks. They dove under, came up again shortly, dove again and at that point I lost sight of them. Would these be otters or something else ?

Otters are seen quite often around the lake. They are active in the winter as well as other seasons and you often see their tracks in the snow going between open areas on streams.
A month ago in the swamp by Point of Pines, three otters were playing/eating/doing what otters do. Watched them for 10 minutes or so as they would dive down, get something to eat and then return to the surface to eat. Sometimes, you will find places that they like to eat mussels and there is a collection of shells on the bottom just off a rock that breaks the surface.
