The eagle nest on Stamp Act is active again this season. At least one chick has been seen and the parents are actively guarding the nest. The observed chick is about 2/3s adult size but will have to get bigger, get its flight feathers and then learn to fly and catch fish. These parents seemed to do well in that last year they raised two chicks who seemed to do well and were seen fending for themselves after the parents stopped worrying about feeding them.
Stamp Act Island is closed to all travel although after the nesting bird season, the North Beach will open again on July 1st. The Stamp Act Island Committee appreciates how most people respect the rules of the island and most of the people who aren’t following the rules are new to the lake and once they are told what the rules are, they obey them. Our eagles appreciate the “no intrusion” policy.
